Learning at Prestongrange

Prestongrange Museum is a wonderful place to visit at any time of the year. Bring your class or group and have a really interesting learning experience! There is a Prestongrange loan box you could borrow before or after your visit, you can find details here!

At Prestongrange Musuem you can explore East Lothian's industrial past and find out about mining, brick making, pottery and many more industries as well as the people who worked in them. Prestongrange is also an open site with woodland and open spaces - perfect for a minibeast safari or to encourage your little explorers to connect with nature. We have worksheets, photo packs and plenty of information to develop a great visit. We also have a Visitor Centre (open April to September) with toilets and space to leave bags and a cafe if you need refreshments! Get in touch with us to chat about what you would like to do - we'd love to hear from you!

Children's University

We are delighted that all our museums are Learning Destinations for the Children's University, and Prestongrange Museum is no exception. The Children's University is a fabulous charity that encourages children aged 5 to 14 to try new experiences and develop new skills and interests by participating in Learning Activities outside school. Remember to bring your Learning Passport with you when you visit! Interested in the scheme and want to know more - just click on the link above and you'll find all the information you need!
